Glen goes to Weminuche

Glen has always loved hiking in high country, and likes learning new things about ultralight backpacking, so he jumped at the chance to go backpacking with Will Rietveld, a Senior Editor for BackpackingLight. After some emails back and forth, Will set an ambitious route he had tried once before but had to abort because of injury to his hiking partner. He was hoping Glen was maybe made of tougher (or at least lighter) stuff, and could complete the loop with him. Glen was just hoping he could keep up with Will.  Read his complete trip report including gear lists, great tips, and of course stellar pictures!

Great trip report. Once I’ve finished exploring Maroon Bells/Snowmass, the Weminuche is on my list of areas to visit.

The picture of the socks is a classic. I’ve switched to DeFeet Wooleators in a dark color. Don’t show the stains, and don’t get quite as crunchy…

What a wonderful trip that sounds like! Seems really satisfying. I’d love to visit that area one day. And next time, Glen, I want to finish a walk I go on with you!
