Hi Chris, Did you use the internal frame? When hiking the JMT, I used a frameless pack, the “Bear Skin”, but over the last several days, ( the whole hike was 14 days) I craved getting the weight off my shoulders. On trail I saw a Granite Gear that had a frame (Vapor Trail???) and I used one the next summer for a 10 day hike in Yosemite including 3 days on the Sierra High Trail. Very nice weight supporting pack that fit the larger expedition “Bearikade” inside. I also prefer packs that are not black thinking they would absorb heat, but probably a myth! Although I used a SixMoon Designs Oasis on the JMT, I switched to a Gossamer Gear silshelter which worked great. Can you believe I camped alone along beautiful lakes in Yosemite and hiked for many hours without seeing another hiker. even when on trails. Actually, I enjoy seeing others along the JMT and in backcountry Yosemite, too.
