Ryan (a.k.a Guthook) thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2007, and has since done the same on the Pacific Crest Trail, and Long Trail. He was the first person to thru-hike the New England Trail from the northern tip of New Hampshire to the coast of Connecticut. These days, he spends most of his time finding solitude in the mountains of Maine and New Hampshire, and occasionally teaching for the National Outdoor Leadership School.
He is best known for Guthook's Hiking Guides, the series of iPhone and Android apps used by hikers on the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, Continental Divide Trail, John Muir Trail, Colorado Trail, and many, many more.
