Philip Werner is an avid backpacker, peakbagger, and bushwhacker who got into lightweight backpacking about eight years ago. Since then, he’s section hiked over 900 hundred miles of the Appalachian Trail from New Jersey to Maine, completed The Long Trail in Vermont, and backpacked across Scotland twice in the TGO Challenge. Philip is also a 4 season hiking/backpacking leader for the Appalachian Mountain Club, a guide for Andrew Skurka Adventures, and a Leave No Trace Master Educator.

Favorite Training Ground: White Mountain National Forest, New Hampshire. The granite peaks and dense forests of the Whites are my 4 season playground for hiking, backpacking, and mountaineering. I try to get up there weekly to challenge myself on long hikes or climbs and to test out new UL backpacking gear.
