Harriett grew up camping and hiking. Actually her families were outdoor enthusiasts that included many adventure sports. Her dad Harry taught her brother and her to ALWAYS have a toothbrush and underwear available at all times. That training came in handy when Friday evening would roll around and he would say, “Let’s Go.” That same minimalist approach also comes natural today with her love of ultralight backpacking, hiking and peakbagging. Ultralight gear makes it much more pleasurable. Harriett hikes year round in the Southeast. She has hiked in Italy, Alaska, Colorado, Canada and the Pacific Northwest. She has completed the Wonderland Trail and thru-hiked the John Muir Trail. She section hikes the AT with goals to finish one day while always looking for the next summit. Harriett is also a Leave No Trace Educator and leads trips with Cicada Outdoor Adventures, the Sierra Club and Outdoor Club South.
