Brian “Tomato” Boshart has been hiking for many years, starting with a Dana Designs backpack that weighed 7.5 pounds by itself and commonly carried 75+ pounds. Once he read the PCT Handbook, he embraced the lightweight backpacking lifestyle and hasn’t looked back.
He has hiked the PCT twice (’05 and ’09), the AT (’06), and the CDT (’11) for the Triple Crown. Lately he has been seeking out trails that aren’t as well-defined. He hiked the Pacific Northwest Trail in 2013, the Oregon Desert Trail in 2014, and the Chinook Trail in 2014. Sometimes it’s just fun to be a little lost.
